Guided Meditation is a 45 minute class with guidance and brief discussion.  Each class will be a bit different, depending on the rotation of topics. In general, each class will entail basic guidance with posture, breath work, and one form or another of guided imagery. Some of this guided imagery work will be very simple in nature.  Instructor:  Keelyn Riley

Open Meditation is a one hour block of time reserved for practice of your personal silent meditation.  This is a perfect time for intention setting and personal introspection at your own pace that is enhanced by the cumulative energies of all participants.  This is not a formal class, so come and go at any point during the hour that fits your need and schedule.  
Facilitator:  Staff      No Cost. 

Private Meditation are individual sessions where you work with an experienced and knowledgable teacher to establish a home practice of mindfulness and work with specific challenges in your life.  Sessions are customized to meet your specific needs.  Call (928) 526-1961 extension 1 to schedule.

Stress Reduction Clinic at Mountain Waves:  
An 8 Week Course in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction  
Mindfulness is a way of waking up to your life, of learning to relate directly to whatever is happening in your life.  It is a way of doing something for yourself that only you can do—consciously working with your own stress, pain, illness, and the challenges of daily life.  Instructor:  Nicolette Sachs

Benefits of Meditation

Meditation focuses on breathing and centering, often with the use of a word, repeated with each breath, called a mantra.  At Mountain Waves, meditation is one way in which guests can achieve personal awareness of their state of wellbeing and recognize areas in need of greater balance.

Meditation can be used to reduce anxiety, high blood pressure and to help people quit smoking without medication[1]. Many studies found that meditation helped people cope with epilepsy, premenstrual syndrome, menopausal symptoms, autoimmune disease, anxiety and emotional disorders[2], including post-traumatic stress disorder.[3].

The most universally experienced benefit reported by those who practice meditation is a calming of the mind, with an associated sense of well-being and unity of mind and body.
